About the Federal Funding Office (FFO)
Who We Are
The Tennessee Valley Authority’s (TVA) Federal Funding Office (FFO) leads efforts to secure and manage federal grants by identifying strategic opportunities, coordinating across internal Business Units (BUs), and ensuring compliance with federal funding requirements. The FFO helps TVA, its customers, and regional partners navigate the complex landscape of federal programs that support energy, environmental, and economic development priorities across the Tennessee Valley.
Why It Matters
Through the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL) and the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA), more than $1.6 trillion in federal funding is being invested to modernize the nation’s energy system. Many of these programs can directly support projects across TVA’s seven-state service region, from grid upgrades to community resilience and infrastructure enhancement.
In 2024, TVA’s FFO successfully secured the Grid Resilience and Innovation Partnerships (GRIP) award from the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), demonstrating TVA’s leadership in advancing system reliability, innovation, and collaboration through federal partnerships.
What We Do
The FFO identifies and prioritizes high-impact funding opportunities, assesses TVA’s eligibility, and provides comprehensive support for proposal development, grant writing, technical analysis, and compliance.
By coordinating across TVA Business Units and working closely with Local Power Companies, communities, and business partners, the FFPMO streamlines processes, strengthens regional collaboration, and ensures equitable access to resources.
This integrated approach increases the likelihood of successful funding applications and accelerates investments in critical infrastructure such as transmission and distribution improvements and other system modernization initiatives.
Our Approach
We combine policy insight, technical expertise, and program management discipline to guide projects from opportunity identification through award, contracting, and reporting, ensuring compliance, transparency, and measurable outcomes.
